A winding brief is the package and handling information needed before yarn enters a downstream trial. It translates a general request for a cone or spool into the dimensions, weight, build and unwinding questions the production team can actually review.

Which package dimensions should be discussed?

Package dimensions are physical interfaces with storage, transport and downstream equipment. State tube length and internal diameter in mm when relevant, then distinguish target values from supplier standards and values that the production team must verify.

  • Core or tube internal diameter in mm
  • Overall package width and outside diameter
  • Net yarn weight and gross packed weight

How should winding and unwinding be described?

Winding and unwinding are handling directions, not cosmetic details. In practice, the conversion team should explain how the package will be mounted, where yarn should exit and whether any build or tension concern must be evaluated during the trial.

  • Mounting and unwinding orientation
  • Traverse or package-build question
  • Trial observation and stoppage record

What should the incoming-package inspection capture?

Incoming inspection is a record of received condition. MFE’s 2026 traceability framework photographs the package, preserves its label and assigns a sample ID before the package is associated with any downstream result.

  • Package condition and count
  • Label, sample ID and received date
  • Damage, contamination or loose-end observation

How does winding connect to the RFQ?

A winding request is one section of the material RFQ. Our review keeps package requirements beside application, linear-density reference, colour and trial quantity so feasibility and quotation assumptions are visible to both the supplier and production reviewer.

  • State fixed equipment constraints
  • Separate preference from requirement
  • Confirm approved package before scaling quantity
