Colour, Package and Sample Identification
Keeping visible project decisions connected.
Colour, package and sample identification is a controlled naming system for visual decisions. A useful record keeps the approved appearance, the physical sample and the intended package connected without treating any of them as proof of polymer grade or finished-line performance.
What belongs in a colour-and-sample record?
A sample record is a short, versioned description of what was actually reviewed. In practice, MFE separates the visible reference from technical fields so that a colour choice cannot silently change the material or construction brief.
- Unique sample or revision identifier
- Colour name plus image or physical swatch reference
- Date, reviewer and approval status
How should package direction be described?
Package direction is the commercial and handling context for a sample, not a substitute for a packing specification. Record the form—such as hank, cone or bulk spool—then list the dimensions, net weight and label requirements that still need confirmation.
- Package form and target net weight
- Core or tube requirement when relevant
- Private-label, carton and barcode questions
Which evidence should remain separate?
Visual approval and technical approval are two different records. As of 2026, MFE’s public data area contains 8 PE braided-line series and 139 supplied parameter rows; those rows still do not prove that a photographed sample has the same construction or test status.
- Image: visible appearance only
- Parameter row: supplied reference data
- Order file: project-specific confirmation
How does the record support a repeat order?
A repeat-order reference is useful only when the buyer can identify what changed and what stayed fixed. In our experience, retaining the previous sample ID, approved colour direction and package revision makes the next review faster while preserving the need for current order confirmation.
- Reference the last approved version
- List requested changes explicitly
- Reconfirm open technical and commercial fields
